Some of the girls and women who have been recently rescued by Nigerian army from Boko Haram have made a stunning revelation.
They said that the Chibok schoolgirls who were kidnapped about two years ago by the insurgents are still alive. Leadership reports that one of the rescued Boko Haram victims, simply identified as Zara, claimed to have met some of the abducted girls at a village called Njimiya when they were escaping from insurgents during a military onslaught.
‘‘When we got to Njimiya, we saw some girls fetching water. We spoke Kanuri to them. One of them later said in Hausa that they can’t speak Kanuri because they are from Chibok,” she said.
Zara, who is 5-month pregnant for a member of the Boko Haram sect, said that some of the schoolgirls were kept under a tarpaulin erected in thick foliage. The girls said that some of schoolgirls seemed to be ‘married’ because they were pregnant. “One of the Chibok girls who now called herself Hauwa, because Boko Haram had given most of them new Islamic names, had recently delivered a baby.
Some of the girls were looking traumatized while some looked okay and not worried about their conditions,” she added. Meanwhile, Shehu Sani, the senator representing Kaduna central senatorial district, has also recently stated that the missing Chibok girls are still alive and will be found soon. According to him, there are two ways to free the abducted girls.
“The first is to use force to free them and before you apply force, you have to know where they are. You also have to weigh the consequences of raiding the camp with such number of persons, because the insurgents have nothing to lose. “The second option is to explore ways of extracting them out through negotiation and negotiation is still possible,” he said.
